THE QUILTS OF SARAH BEARUP-NEAL Sarah Bearup-Neal, former Flint resident and trained artist with a Bachelor's of Fine Art/Studio Art from MSU, will be exhibiting her Postmodern Piecework Collection at the Sloan Museum, August 11, 2007 through October 19, 2007. Her collection, created between 2005-2007, includes brightly colored compositions and contemporary and nonrepresentational quilts. They fall under the rubric of 'art quilt',a style that Bearup-Neal discovered at Sloan Museum while writing a story on an exhibition of historic quilts for the Flint Area Newspapers (now defunct), where she worked as a reporter, art editor and feature writer from 1982-1988.
