New McCree Theatre Auditions Set for

Auditions for the blockbuster Broadway musical, "Purlie," will be held Monday and Tuesday, December 22 and 23, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. sharp!!! at the theatre. This is a change from the date posted on the website. The production staff is seeking adult males and females of all ages and ethnicities to audition. Anyone living in the Greater Flint Area can audition for roles in the "New" McCree Theatre's productions. Interested persons should prepare 16 bars of a song to sing, read a poem or monologue, and prepare an eight-count dance routine. For the first time in its recent history, McCree Theatre will utilize a guest director to direct "Purlie." Reuben Yabuku, writer/actor/director from the Detroit area, and founder and producing director of Buku Productions will serve in that capacity. His many credits include the hit, Moms Mabley: The Naked Truth, a play he wrote, produced and directed.
