In "Christmas is Coming Uptown," all of the traditional Dickensian characters come to life, dancing and swinging to a Harlem beat. Scrooge is a Harlem slumlord about to foreclose an apartment house, a recreation center and a church when his late partner and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future take him on their rounds. He comes upon his own grave after watching Tiny Tim's burial procession and he's reformed. Shedding his nightshirt, he orders Chinese food and Jewish deli (the only food available this Christmas morn) for the Cratchits. The story is accentuated with rousing R & B and gospel music. WCBS Television calls it "eye popping, ear pleasing, exuberant entertainment." Tickets are now on sale for The "New" McCree Theatre's Broadway musical, "Christmas is Coming Uptown," with music by Garry Sherman, book by Philip Rose and Peter Udell, lyrics by Peter Udell. The story is based on A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Comin' Uptown is performing at the "New" McCree Theatre, 322 E. Hamilton, December 18 ? 27, 2008. Advance tickets for general admission are on sale at the theatre's box office, 322 E. Hamilton Avenue, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
