April 21st Theme: Faith: Presenters are Joseph Tyler reciting in Spanish, Jane Gentry Vance (Kentucky Poet Laureate for the 2007-2008) reciting in English and a Student Presenter chosen by UM-Flint. No matter where you stand on Earth, look up and you'll see the same sky as everyone else. Since the development of language, and even before, the stars and planets have been a source of wonder and mystery. No matter the language, people from every culture have pondered the night sky in amazement. Poetry taps into a sublime network of emotions and life experiences, often revealing hidden connections. Poetry is like a roadmap to the heartbeat of a culture. In keeping with Astronomy's Arabic and Greek roots, Poetry under the Stars will highlight original poetry in many languages from some of our community members, as well as from some of the great poets of Planet Earth. Let's make poetry our vehicle to new experiences in a celestial setting at the Longway Planetarium.
