@ Longway Planetarium Rockets and Race Cars! – Warm up with a few easy to build “in-room” rockets and then build a water-powered R2K rocket to launch outdoors while learning about forces and motion. We’ll help you build a rubber band propeller powered car to race. Science and Art – Explore science while creating art! Use water paints to explore evaporation, use shaving cream to investigate color mixing, and pound some flowers to make beautiful art that you can put in a frame you decorate. In the Garden – Go on a garden scavenger hunt! Classify plants, see how plant parts work, dissect a flower, and investigate insects and bugs. You can also visit the fossil dig! Food Webs – What’s for dinner? Try out these hands-on activities that explore food chains and food webs. Use markers to camouflage yourwooden snake or lizard model, dissect an owl pellet and display the bones you find, and play a habitat game to see what happens when an animal’s ecosystem changes.

Share Art Flint
The Greater Flint Arts Council is celebrating community arts and culture with the Share Art Flint Mini Grants program. Apply for a grant and tell us how you want to address serious community issues in creative new ways through the power of arts and culture. We want new ideas from individual artists, emerging organizations and creative arts and culture educators, including those who don't usually apply for grants.
