The event, Carnaval Cubano, will begin the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and will mark the opening of the new exhibition Unbroken Ties: Dialogues in Cuban Art. The evening will provide authentic experiences focused on Cuban culture including art, food, atmosphere and entertainment. Guest speaker Jorge Santis, Curator of Museum of Art, Ft. Lauderdale will address the exhibition themes - the day-to-day reality of the Cuban experience - the Cuba remembered and the Cuba imagined. Following the lecture, tour the new exhibition and permanent collection, enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres from Vicente's Cuban Cuisine. The evening's live entertainment will feature the local El Ballet Folklorico Estudiantil, a Cuban concert band, Salsa dancers, and a Parade of National flags with indigenous costumes. Funds raised support FIA programming and exhibitions. The exhibition will open to the public on Sunday, September 12, 2010 through December 7, 2010.
