The concert features original choreography by faculty members, as well as two pieces from the classical repertory: the Jewel Fairies from Marius Petipa’s Sleeping Beauty and the pas de deux from Arthur Saint-Léon’s Coppelia.

Original works include Dr. Elizabeth Kattner’s Songs of Humanity, a contemporary ballet featuring the music of Karl Jenkins. The sorrows and triumphs of the common experiences of mankind are explored in four movements: Songs for Tears, Songs of Hope, Songs of Struggle and Song of Deliverance.

Faculty member Beth Wielinski also presents new works, including: Ain True Love, a work inspired by the Civil War era and the women left behind; Reverence, a provocative slow-motion trio inspired by the avant-garde Japanese dance forms “Butoh”; In a Silent Way, a dramatic all-male trio focusing on pride and solidarity; and Stages, a solo that explores the human lifespan.
