    FIA Art School Open House in memory of Claire White

    FIA Art School Open House in celebration of the legacy of Claire Mott White

    Wednesday, September 10, 2014, 4-7pm

    (Flint, MI) The community is invited to attend an activity-filled Open House on Wednesday, September 10th from 4-7pm in the FIA Art School, celebrating the legacy of Claire Mott White. The FIA Art School is a community school where people of all ages and abilities take part in a wide variety of activities. All are welcome, whether beginners or experienced artists.
    At the Open House, experience the media, methods, techniques and equipment offered, year round, at the FIA Art School. Learn about the FIA Art School’s studio classes, group events, and scholarships, and speak to experienced instructors about what class might be right for you. Attendees are invited to tour the facility and try their hand at printmaking, pottery, painting and drawing. There will also be expert demonstrations in welding, Raku pottery kiln firing, weaving, botanical illustration, glass mosaic and more.

    The FIA Art School runs at full capacity from 9 am to 9 pm with an annual enrollment of more than 1,700 students. The Art School remains dedicated to the educational enlightenment of the public through formal studio instruction in drawing, painting, photography, mixed media, printmaking, ceramics, glass mosaic, fiber, and metal sculpture. The school also provides summer camps for youth, free family activities, and a pre-°©?college portfolio development program for gifted high school students.

    The FIA is located in the Cultural Center Park, two blocks off I-475 between the University of Michigan-Flint and Mott Community College.
