    Kuungana KanKouran Conference 2017

    Join us for an exciting, fun-filled and educational weekend of African drum and dance workshops and a concert on Saturday. The theme this year is ”Bole Moye Dolle” which means Unity is Power. Learn the art of West African drum and dance with master teachers from all over the world. New to the conference this year is Youssouf Koumbassa (dance) and Fode Moussa Camara (drum). We will be welcoming back Ndeye Gueye (dance), Cheikh Ndong (drum), Idy Ciss (dance) and Marie Basse Wiles (dance). Also returning this year is Assane Konte and Ali Rahmaan of KanKouran West African Dance Company from Washington D.C.

    Join us at the craft table to learn exquisite jewelry and belt making. Browse and shop at our African store with it's large selection of unique gifts and items.

    The highlight of the weekend is the conference concert on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 8:00 PM which will include our own Kuungana drummers and dancers, beautiful African costumes and the best African drumming and dancing in the country. This is a vibrant, exciting concert that you don’t want to miss. 

    Come out and experience the culture of West Africa, learn to drum and dance and have some fun.

    Our out of town guests attending the conference should book their stay at the Baymont Inn, 4160 Pier North Blvd, Flint, Michigan 48504, 810-732-2300. Room rates for our guests is $79. Use code “African Drum and Dance”. Deadline at these rates is October 23, 2017.

    Admission Info:

    Class fees for children 6 and under $8. Adult price is $15. Join us on Youth Night Friday, Nov. 10. All children 12 & under pay one price of $10. Concert is Saturday. Tickets are $10 children 12 & under. $15 for adults.

    General Day and Time Info:

    The concert on Saturday begins at 8PM. Doors open at 7PM to browse our awesome African store.
