Flint Symphony Orchestra Season Opening Classical Concert

Featuring pianist Lilya Zilberstein, Vltava Smetana's The Moldau from Ma Vlast, Tchaikovsky's Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor for Piano and Orchestra and Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 in F major (Pastorale). Smetana's The Moldau is a lush musical landscape from the cycle of symphonic poems about his homeland. Then a beloved pianist returns to play an equally beloved concerto, Tchaikovsky's first, majestic and emotional. The evening closes with Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony, five movements of delicious music that bring to mind peaceful yet vivid outdoor scenes.
