Vertigo Theatrics welcomes in 2010 with the fabulous Neil Simon Script "The Prisoner of Second Avenue". What do you do when the company you've been with more than half your life begins to pare down...and you are part of that paring? If that is not enough, your wife's job is eliminated too! The air you breathe is polluted, the gas prices are rising, the walls everywhere are so thin you hear everything, your apartment is burglarized and your psychiatrist has died after you've spent $23,000 of your hard earned money. What do you do? The only thing left is a nervous breakdown. It is on recovery you realize you have the grit & resilience to survive! Sound familiar? This tale, although written in the seventies, is certainly reflective of the political and economic climate of today. Vertigo's performance features Mark Bonto of Flint as Mel, the nervous, anxious, manic, over sensitive 47 year old advertising account executive trying desperately to maintain his sanity. Jacque Valley of Birch Run is Edna, Mel's wife, whose main objective is to satisfy all of his "whims" and ensure their life continues to evolve into the peace and serenity we all deserve. As Mel's brother Harry, Larry Stecco, of Flushing pits wits against their sisters Jessie (Rita Vater-Darnton of Flint Township) and Pearl (Susan Payne Woodrow of Waterford). Rita and Susan capture the stereotypical bantering of sisters. Vertigo Theatrics has been operating inside the beautiful and historic Masonic Temple since 1997, offering dinner theater as an entertainment option in the area. The dinner is catered by the Battiste Families - Temple Dining Room, serving Flint and Genesee County for over 60 years. Ted Valley, Vertigo's Executive Artistic Producer/Director states, "I am humbled with each production by the dedication of the talented performers to bring each show to life, and the audiences willingness to embrace each performance and be transported to different times and places. For them to allow themselves the chance to be entertained with the story, with the performers as well as the director's interpretation of each character proves this area remains a steadfast supporter of live art." The Prisoner of Second Avenue by Neil Simon is produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. and will be staged: January 22nd, 23rd, 29th and 30th 2010 with Dinner at 7 P.M./Show at 8 P.M. and January 31, 2010 with Lunch at 1:30 P.M./Show at 2:30 P.M. Dinner seats are $35/$30 prepaid - Performance only seats are $20. Reservations are required for dinner seating by phone at (810) 239-7469 or visit us on the web at www.vertigotheatrics.com. As always, we look forward to seeing you at the show.
