Festival opportunities include viewing national and local artworks, inspiring presentations, machine applique workshop (beginners welcome), long-arm sewing machine demonstrations, quilting assistance, and door prizes!
Artists include: Marquetta Bell Johnson who hand-dyes her fabrics; Karen West with very intricate and whimsical stitching; Carol Trojanowski whose artworks appear as paintings, Gilbert MCann’s quilt inspired metalwork, and other individual artists. Many quilts from the Flint African American Quilters Guild, Calvary Apostolic Tabernacle Church; Flint Handmade, Genesee Star Quilters, and members of Voters Not Politicians. The very large Flint Quilt, coordinated by Flint Public Art Project, was created by local residents and local fabric artist Venus DeMarlo, will also be unveiled at this event. See the Flint Festival of Quilts brochure or Facebook page for more details.
