The Friends of Modern Art film series at the Flint Institute of Arts presents a drama based on a true story. It involves the unlikely romance between a reclusive Nova Scotian (Ethan Hawke) and the fragile but determined artist (Sally Hawkins) hired as his housekeeper. The Los Angeles Times has praised this for its “genuine grace and considerable poignancy.”
