    Abstract Expressionism: Then & Now Flint Institute of Arts Abstract Expressionism: Then & Now Presented by Flint Institute of Arts at Flint Institute of Arts May 5-August 19, 2012 The exhibition Abstract Expressionism: Then & Now surveys the art movement from its origins in the post WWII period to the latest developments from the 21st century. Organized by the FIA from its permanent collection with loans from the Detroit Institute of Arts, Eli and Edythe Broad Museum at Michigan State, Kalamazoo Institute of Art and the Smart Museum of Art University of Chicago.

    The Golden Age of Painting, 1600-1800 from the Speed Art Museum Flint Institute of Arts The Golden Age of Painting, 1600-1800 from the Speed Art Museum Presented by Flint Institute of Arts at Flint Institute of Arts May 5-August 19, 2012 The Golden Age of Painting, 1600-1800 from the Speed Art Museum is an exhibition that chronicles the tremendous changes that sept Europe during that time. Examples of the works of the great masters ie. Rembrandt, Rubens and Ruisdael are included in the exhibition. The FIA is the only Midwest venue.

    We Need to Talk About Kevin Flint Institute of Arts We Need to Talk About Kevin Presented by Flint Institute of Arts at Flint Institute of Arts May 25-May 27, 2012 The Friends of Modern Art Film Series at the FIA concludes for 2011-12 with a drama starring Tilda Swinton and John C. Reilly. Swinton plays a mother coping with the horrific damage caused by her psychopathic son in what the Los Angeles Times calls “a domestic horror story that literally gets to us where we live, a disturbing tale told with uncompromising emotionality and great skill.”

      Five of us were first time visitors to the Flint Inst of Arts. We were absolutely enthralled with the entire glass art exhibit and the beautiful museum collections throughout. I'm returning for sure... Expand
