120th Anniversary production of Oscar Wilde’s “Importance of Being Earnest” at Crossroads Village Opera House

The Kearsley Park Players conclude their 2015 Theatre in Our Parks summer theatre festival with Oscar Wilde’s comic classic “The Importance of Being Earnest”. The play premiered 120 years ago in 1895 in London and was an immediate success. It is one of the most widely performed comedies and has been made into several major films. Theater historians have described it as “the second most known and quoted play in English after Hamlet.”

Funding from the Ruth Mott Foundation means tickets are only $5 and anyone with a current student ID is admitted free.

The production features a strong cast, including James Cech, Brian Haggard, Ella J. Thorp, Justin Wetenhall, Laura Friesen, Kristen Carter, Shelli McCormick, Ian Thomas and Victor Galea. The play is directed by Kay Kelly.

“The Importance of Being Earnest” will be presented at Crossroads Village for one weekend only, opening on Thursday, September 24 at the Opera House at 7:30 pm.
