pieces of my heART

Presented by

Nationally Known Artist Gilbert McCann

Quilts are made from pieces, as is Gilbert McCann’s quilt made from pieces of his metal art.  Each piece of art is special to him.

Come hear about Gilbert’s heart and his art.

Flint Native and Greater Flint Arts Council Member Gilbert McCann has created his metal treasures across the nation. His works address issues of the heart and values in our society. His sense of whimsical and fantasy come together producing solid common sense and reflective commentary. He delights in exploring new territories and seeing just how far the mind and hand can travel together. Gilbert happily returned home to Flint, MI in 2010 with his encouraging and delightful wife Vicki. They have 3 children, one of whom is an artist in their own right. He has 4 grandchildren he enjoys passing his love of the arts to. He is currently collaborating with his daughter Mel McCann on the Wings Project to be unveiled in 2018. Gilbert has brought his expert knowledge and metal working skills together for the 2016 Festival of Quilts as he tackled a new idea and direction by lovingly combining the SCRAPS of his past works over the last few years. He plans on saving his scraps in years to come to create a new and beautiful new “Quilt” each year for our fun festive Flint Festival of Quilts preserving the memories and stories of his own art, at the same time, producing art for generations to come. He will be working toward placing his “quilt” art in public areas throughout Flint in order to remind viewers to remember the beautiful genre of Quilting all year long!

For all ages

Knob Hill brings a delightful gourmet table each morning to guest of the Inn. ON our visit to this lovely Bed & Breakfast owners Diana Phillips and Allen Griggs share complementary sweet breads and fruit with a variety of tea and coffee to help us get a bright start to the last day of our quilting fun!
