About the artist:
My training and background is in Art, but my passion is photography. I have found the same elements that are important in creating a good painting are also important in taking that "perfect" picture. Composition, texture, mood and the subtleties of light and color all play a role in portraying the beauty of the natural world. Whether I am working with a lens or a brush, I strive to capture the qualities that make wilderness so vital to the human spirit. A five month long trip through Alaska in 1987 was one of the best opportunities I have had to enjoy the beauty of our great country. Traveling by motor home allowed my wife and me to get up close and personnel to the settings I wanted to portray. My pictures tell Nature's story and I hope that through viewing them people will have a better understanding of why we should preserve our wild lands. I am now consumed by the technological advances in digital photography and am looking forward to capturing images in a new and exciting way. I have attended both domestic and international art classes taught by some of the most recognized names in the Art world, Tony Couch, Irvin Shapiro, Al Stine, Tom Lynch, Dr. Joe Robertson and Joe Miller. I am a member and a advocate of the following associations: *Flint Lensmen Camera Club *Fenton ARt Guild *Flint Art Institute Won't you please join me in a journey to some of our Wilder Places?
