Each of these one-act plays, in their own way, celebrate the importance of people of color in the lives of the majority community, no matter how subservient their roles.
Imagine a small town in the Jim Crow south where all of its Black residents suddenly disappear. Imagine the chaos, the comedy that ensues. That is the gist of Day of Absence.
In Happy Ending, 2 African American housekeepers scheme to reunite their bosses, a white couple on the verge of divorce. Knowing that if the couple separates it would mean the end of their employment. Come out and see these hilarious satires.
