Late Winter Exhibition

February 19-March 20, 2021

Buckham Gallery is pleased to announce three concurrent exhibitions featuring Chad Erpelding, Deepanjan Mukhopadhyay and Jordan Vinyard.

Chad Erpelding: Gains and Losses utilizes data visualization and systems-based strategies to investigate global institutions. With the rise of globalization, we are increasingly connected through a complex web of data and economic activity. Gains and Losses will visualize that connection while exploring stock indices and dark pools.

Deepanjan Mukhopadhyay: Appropriated Figure-Grounds is a series of images probing the relationships between photographic representation and global figures of power often by investigating the Photographic apparatus itself. Appropriated Figure-Grounds explores several questions: What does it mean to produce and propagate photographs of global political and corporate leaders? What does it mean for the consumers of these images to have access to representation of these leaders? Does access to these photographic representations have any connection to the political and economic representation and in turn agency for consumers and political supporters?

Jordan Vinyard: Summary of A Few Volts looks at how we  hypothesize, test, squeeze, and tether ourselves to our technologies, while counting on the flexibility and resilience of our steadfast meat machines to endure. We suppose we stare at screens too long, crane our necks to participate in nihilist devices, and laugh at our role as couch potatoes consuming as many ones and zeros as possible. Summary of A Few Volts satirically reflects this relationship and our primordial complacency as propinquent subjects among our gadgets.

Late Winter Exhibitions opens February 19 and runs through Saturday, March 20, 2021. Buckham Gallery and its staff are committed to the health and safety of our Flint audience.
