Acclamation for Andy is a memorial concert to honor the memory of Andrew J Lloyd. The event will take place Wedenseday, August 5th, at 7:00 pm at the Clio Amphitheater. Admission is free. The concert will open with a set by the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Flint Steel Band. This young, energetic, and talented group will be performing their third annual set at the Clio Amphitheater. The program will include the music of Pharrell Willams, Maroon 5, and Bruno Mars. “Jim Coviak & Friends” will be joining in throughout the concert. The second half of the concert will be performed by a large reunion band called the 1053 All-Stars. The group is made up of former students that Andrew performed with at Mott Middle College, Mott Community College, and the University of Michigan-Flint. Many of them will be traveling from their current homes across the country to perform. The program will include selections from the Mott Middle College 1999 European Jazz Tour which included the Montruex Jazz Festival (Switzerland), The Nice Jazz Festival (France), and Jazz a Vienne (France). The concert will feature former “Steelhead” and current international recording artist Daru Jones, who performed at the Grammy Awrards with Jack White and is the featured cover story of the July 2015 Modern Drummer magazine. For additional information visit Facebook: Acclamation for Andy or contact Jim Coviak at jamescoviak@me.com. This performance is made possible by the Greater Flint Arts Council with generous funding by the Ruth Mott Foundation.
