Arts/Tech/Biz Mashup

Presented by UM- Flint University Outreach Innovation Incubator at UM-Flint Harding Mott University Center

The University of Michigan-Flint University Outreach’s Innovation Incubator will be hosting an arts, technology and business symposium July 31.

The free event will bring together local individuals working in the arts to discuss intersections of technology in their work. It will include TED-style talks, a panel discussion of the business of creativity and a keynote presentation by Detroit’s Complex Movements.

Complex Movements is a Detroit-based artist collective developing interactive performance work that illuminates connections between complex science and social justice movements to support the transformation of communities. The group will discuss some of their previous projects and answer audience questions.

TED talks will be given by working artists and innovators including Kurt Neiswender, Al Harris, Ryan Gregory and Joseph Reinsel.

The “business of creativity” panel discussion will feature individuals from a wide range of arts-related professions in the for-profit and non-profit sectors. This group includes Joel Rash, Charles Winfrey, Suzanne Lossing, Rebecca Zeiss and Kala Wilburn.

The symposium, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. will include lunch, and participants must register by July 27 at go.umflint.edu/mashup.

The Innovation Incubator and its programs are funded through support from the C.S. Mott Foundation and UM-Flint.
