Ariana Vaeth Artist Lecture

Presented by Buckham Gallery at Buckham Gallery

Join Buckham Gallery for an intimate Artist Lecture with Ariana Vaeth, Saturday February 10 at 2 PM.

Ariana Vaeth is the second of three artists selected from 2022’s BIPOC Is The Theme!for future exhibition in 2023-2024’s anniversary season. The 2022 exhibition was conceived in collaboration with Tyana J. Buie. Vaeth is a Baltimore-raised artist living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She received her undergraduate degree from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. Her museum history includes solo exhibitions in Door County, Wisconsin at the Miller Art Museum and in Milwaukee at the Lynden and the Haggerty Museums of Art. Vaeth’s exhibition “High Profile” is currently on view at Buckham Gallery through Saturday, February 10.

Painterly images in High Profile emphasize the boundaries that delineate where safety thrives, these contexts highlighting an activity or person of interest: we gaze at them as they engage in more pressing matters. Through selective cropping, hiding faces, and utilizing the silhouetted profile to spotlight the focus of the subject’s attention, Ariana Vaeth underlines their social ponderings and tendings while maintaining a vital semblance of their privacy.

Buckham Fine Arts Project is supported in part by an award from the MICHIGAN ARTS AND CULTURE COUNCIL and the NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, and the Greater Flint Arts Council Share Art Genesee Grant Program made possible by the Genesee County Arts Education and Cultural Enrichment Millage funds. Your tax dollars are at work!
