Presented by Flint Institute of Arts at Flint Institute of Arts

The Friends of Modern Art film series at the Flint Institute of Arts presents a tender story told through three defining chapters in the life of a young African-American man who grapples with his sexuality and longs for acceptance. The New York Times has praised director Barry Jenkins’ multi-Oscar-nominated drama – the surprise winner as Best Picture — as “almost unbearably personal” and “an urgent social statement.” Jenkins – as co-screenwriter – and supporting actor Mahershala Ali also won Academy Awards for their work.
