The Friends of Modern Art film series at the Flint Institute of Arts presents a documentary about the unconventional life of a trailblazing Latin-American singer.
Chavela Vargas, a sad, fiery legend of Mexican song, is recalled by those who knew her, filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar among them. The Austin (Texas) Chronicle calls this “an eye-opening primer on an intoxicating performer about whom too little is known.”
