Humanity in Harmony Music Festival

Humanity in Harmony Music Festival

Presented by Flint Jewish Federation at Flint Institute of Music

Daniel Pearl World Music Days is about creating a “dialogue in music.” Daniel Pearl was not only a well-respected reporter; he was also an accomplished violinist! The Daniel Pearl Foundation keeps his memory alive through music; there are Daniel Pearl World Music Days concerts all over the world. The Pearl family wanted their son to be remembered for what he loved, not how he died; that’s why they created Daniel Pearl World Music Days.

The sixth Humanity in Harmony Music Festival features an eclectic mix of styles and culture. Opening the program for the sixth time will be; the Dort Honors String Quartet, four very talented high school musicians from the Flint School of the Performing Arts.  Jesse Ray and the Carolina Catfish “Think ’50s-era Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash, those Sun Record stars … only with tattoos and a punk attitude played by a pair of 20-somethings. Larry McCray  Bluesman Larry McCray will grace the Humanity in Harmony stage this year. For 25 years the Arkansas-born, Michigan-based singer, guitarist, bandleader, songwriter has been “preaching” the Blues. While his heart and soul are in the blues, there’s a part of McCray that has a rock ‘n’ roll beat too.  Sheldon Low/We Are the Northern Lights  Jewish rocker Sheldon Low will be back for his 6th appearance at the Humanity in Harmony Concert. Whether he is performing with his partner and wife Hadar, in New York based indie pop-folk duo We Are The Northern Lights, or performing solo all over the world, this amazing entertainer and educator will reach right into your heart as he is performing
