Astrid Lindgren, the Swedish author of many children’s books and creator of Pippi Longstocking, is profiled in a new biopic playing at the Flint Institute of Arts.
In “Becoming Astrid,” young Astrid Lindgren has a story behind the scenes – about her yearning to break free from a conservative upbringing – that is as engaging as the subject’s public image. Says RogerEbert.com: “This film about an exemplary woman, made by women, is as much a pleasure as it is a lesson.”
