Arab American Film Festival

Arab American Film Festival

Presented by Arab American Heritage Council at Flint Institute of Arts

The AAHC will be hosting our annual Film Festival on Sunday, April 14, 2019. The Film Festival will feature two short films and discussion followed by our feature film. This event is FREE and open to the public and in collaboration with the Arab American National Museum and the Flint Institute of the Arts.

We will be showing the following films:

The Insult (Feature) : “In today’s Beirut, a civilian dispute blown out of proportion finds Tony (Adel Karam), a Lebanese Christian, and Yasser (Kamel El Basha), a Palestinian refugee, facing off in court. As the media circus surrounding the case threatens a social explosion in divided Lebanon, Tony and Yasser reconsider their values and beliefs as revelations of trauma complicate their understanding of one another.”

Searching Skies (Short) : “When a Syrian refugee family is invited to a Christian family’s house for Christmas dinner, they are caught between opposing viewpoints for and against their presence — until an unexpected event suddenly occurs.”

Rupture (Short) : “Rupture follows the journey of four Arab teens on their quest to find the local public pool in their new Canadian city. Introducing a cast of first time actors and survivors of war who channel their personal experiences of loss and new beginnings through a fictional narrative.”
