Students in grades 4-12 can participate in a two-week vocal academy and learn from UM-Flint music faculty, alumni, and guest conductors.
Continuing a tradition of thirty years, the University of Michigan-Flint Summer Vocal Music Academy welcomes middle and high school students who have musical potential and love singing. Academy students are offered the opportunity to participate in music classes that develop musical abilities and artistic potential for vocal performance and other creative arts. The curriculum explores various studies that will enrich the students’ understanding of music as an art. Students will learn, create, and perform on stage under the direction of experienced University of Michigan-Flint music professors, Department of Music alumni, and guest conductors. The Academy offers two consecutive camps, each two weeks long.
Junior Academy: July 8-19, for students currently completing grades 4th – 7th.
Senior Academy: July 15-26, for students currently completing grades 8th – 12th.
Classes are held in the friendly environment of the University of Michigan-Flint campus, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 2:45 pm for the duration of each program. Each Academy closes with an open-to-the-public concert performance at the UM-Flint Theater. Students can find information about auditions, dates, registration, scholarships, and sign up for an audition on the Academy website:
