Vera, An accomplished cyclist, turned artist, is the real creator behind “Emotions In Motion”. Throughout Vera’s cycling career, she had captured 8 State Championship Titles in women’s cycling. She has transformed the emotion and motion of over ten years of world class bike racing into an array of creative expressions, from her “Sprocket Art” to her “Bike Chain Link Necklace”. Vera has also appeared live on the QVC Home Shopping Network displaying her unique Bike Chain-Link Necklace. Emotions In Motion originated in 1987 when Vera began her cycling career as an amateur racer. Over the next five years, she accumulated enough wins to be rated a Cat 2 racer in the sport and was invited to the Olympic Trials in 1992. After winning 8 State Championship Titles and 2 National medals, Vera traveled to Russia as a member of the U.S. Masters National Team to participate in the Master’s World Championship races. There, she captured an astonishing 5 Gold Medals and One Silver Medal. Vera had retired from competition in 1999 and has since puts most of her energy into her creativity & artwork, and enjoying a new artistic way of life. Sculptures: I consider them small scale ideas of grander ideas. I use my hands most of the time after cutting out a round about idea with a sculpting knife. Each one is sanded by my hand as well as with sand paper. I call them my “Energy Forms”. The plaster sculptures started years ago with the blind or unsighted in mind. At one time in my life I was fortunate enough to have experienced a small portion of the world as they see it. The impact on me was tremendous. My sculptures are created with the thoughts of being touched or held. Ink Work: I would very much like to believe everything is as simple as black and white, However… it’s not. It’s only black and white on the surface. If you take a closer look… things become just a little more complex and a little more complicated. “Just as all of us”The ink process is a form of meditation and a form problem solving for me. I love the challenge of creating new designs and patterns. I find drawing very relaxing. Paintings: I enjoy creating on canvas… my work is of expressionism, abstract ideas, emotions, thoughts, dreams, journeys, energy bursts, love, elation, puzzle solving, and fragments of thought and memories.
