    Visual Artist
I am inspired by nature and combine this with my passion for the creative process. My current body of work focuses on the processes of creating with glass and ceramic materials. Art pieces have an underlying focus on a balance between unity and compatibility, while utilizing components found in our natural environment of the Great Lakes region. It is my hope that through understanding artistic processes and the incorporation of science to create an artwork can enhance awareness and appreciation. It is my desire to create artwork will help others see and respect the beauty of our natural environment. For more information and/or if you would like to join me in nature or with art please email me at: slossing@umflint.edu; or call me at (810) 735-6303, or for an Outings Schedule, visit: http://michigan.sierraclub.org/nepessing/Get_Outdoors.html

    Keyon Lovett
    Visual Artist
Keyon Chavez Lovett, discovered  his gift in his hometown of Flint, MI. As a child Keyon spent hours drawing his favorite cartoon characters and athletes. The Flint Institute of Arts became his home early, as his mother enrolled him into classes. The naturally talented artist spent summers in art camps held at the Charles Stewart Mott Community College (MCC).  After Keyon graduated high school, he was admitted into the Art Institute of Michigan in Novi, MI. There, he began to study design and typography. After a years time Keyon moved back to Flint and attend MCC, studying Fine Arts and Art Education. After 3 years Keyon transferred to GVSU in Grand Rapids, MI to finish his degree. After a poor portfolio review, Keyon was forced to start over from scratch.  After a year, Keyon  left the program and began to work on his art as a freelance artist in the city of Grand Rapids. He has had shows at the 341 Gallery and has had his work hung at Grand Valley State University.  That is not all, Keyon illustrated his first children’s book, collaborating with Dr. Carolyn King to produce, “A kid Named Syd.” The book should be released the first week of March 2016.   The “Art School Dropout”, has held scavenger hunts with his art work during Artprize in Grand Rapids and looks to bridge a gap between street art and fine art.
