I am a photographer from Michigan. I love capturing a special moment whether it’s nature or people. I am drawn to old abandoned buildings, houses and barns. I have been taking photographs since I was 9 yrs. old but only since retiring from GM have I really found my calling in photography. I bought an Olympus OM-10 back in the 80’s and took a black and white course at Mott Community College but it was the purchase of a DSLR camera that really got me involved.

As an engineer I seek to explore the interplay between geometric elements by using found objects along with color, shape, and texture to tell a story whether it is at the quantum level of molecular interplay or as wide ranging as the universe. The primary image below is titled Wayfarers’ Rift. Original pieces are available for sale as are giclee reproductions. In addition many 2-D reproductions are also available sized for 5 x 7 note cards (blank inside) or 8 x 10 matting. My preferred media are Yupo paper, glass, and canvas.

My training and background is in Art, but my passion is photography. I have found the same elements that are important in creating a good painting are also important in taking that "perfect" picture. Composition, texture, mood and the subtleties of light and color all play a role in portraying the beauty of the natural world. Whether I am working with a lens or a brush, I strive to capture the qualities that make wilderness so vital to the human spirit. A five month long trip through Alaska in 1987 was one of the best opportunities I have had to enjoy the beauty of our great country. Traveling by motor home allowed my wife and me to get up close and personnel to the settings I wanted to portray. My pictures tell Nature’s story and I hope that through viewing them people will have a better understanding of why we should preserve our wild lands. I am now consumed by the technological advances in digital photography and am looking forward to capturing images in a new and exciting way. I have attended both domestic and international art classes taught by some of the most recognized names in the Art world, Tony Couch, Irvin Shapiro, Al Stine, Tom Lynch, Dr. Joe Robertson and Joe Miller. I am a member and a advocate of the following associations: *Flint Lensmen Camera Club *Fenton ARt Guild *Flint Art Institute Won’t you please join me in a journey to some of our Wilder Places? I began painting in the mid 1970s while in junior high school. My mom bought me a variety of oil paints and I found a love that has lasted a lifetime. For much of my painting careeer, I have been fascinated by wildlife of plants and animals, but later, I became interested in current events and the human condition. I currently live in Flint Michigan with my husband and my youngest of 4 wonderful children. I am the proud grandmother of 2 beautiful grandbabies. In the spring of 2014 I began working on portaits of abandoned houses.  I find beauty in the sad, lonely structures that were once homes, lived in and cared for by families. I have put them on canvas before they are gone, and there is nothing left but memories.I feel a personal connection to these homes, and I think about the unknown families that once lived in them. It is a story that unfortunately connects to so many people in the Flint area.
